Salt: A Ripple Effect

Funded by the Alliance for Research Universities (a2ru) Emerging Creatives Challenge Grant, my team and I (Jieun Lim, Boston University; Luisa Chavarria, Michigan State University) presented a joint workshop and performance at the Michigan State University Science Museum. I contributed music composition and narration to a live crankie theater performance, where I utilized sound sonification of different frequency patterns created in salt to create soundscapes. We paired this performance with a teach-in presentation, where we explored how salt impacts society through the environment, health, science, art, and culture. Participants created the backdrop to the crankie theater performance.
